not really, first, sharks dont swim with their fin above the water like that in real life;hollywood made that up. second, its too shallow for a shark to willingly sswim in there, and third sharks dont eat people in the real world unless they have too (i.e. their starving), hollywood made that up too
Dude, thats some epic fail Taurus excretum you just offloaded. Thats a Great White, they often swim just under the surface, (called basking) and yes, their dorsal fin and tail often break the surface. Further, a lot of sharks, such as the Bull shark and the white will come very shallow, (waist deep in some cases). By the way, I know that beach and its not that shallow. lastly, the white usually attacks humans out of error, but Tigers and Bulls will actively hunt anything…even us….Tigers if there is blood, and bulls if the conditions are right and the water murkey.
sharks do swim into shallow water it’s not common but it happens and sharks do eat people but they don’t like how we taste were bitter to them usually they take a nibble and decide we’re icky then leave but a nibble for a shark usually involves loosing a leg
no, its not. this is actually a fisherman who saved that shark. she kept following him because she was grateful. they becam frineds, but she scared away all of the fish
dude…by mentioning the possibility of ANYTHING on this FAIL-based site, or ANY similar interwebz-themed website qualifying as true, you have successfully justified the name given to Failblog’s comment section
of course…who DOESN’T go fishing in a kayak? Just imagine the facility with which one could paddle along the ocean with a ton of fish dragging along behind ^_^
maybe its that guy with a pet shark, he freed it from a fishing net and it followed him around the rest of its life. didn’t do much for his fishing industry tho
I saw something like this with a surfer and a shark like 10 times his size, but it turned out it was photo-shopped.That was after it scared hundreds of tourists away.
The kayaker is actually in no danger. Sharks have nothing against kayaks and won’t try to eat them, which is why they’re often used for shark research in the wild. Kayak win.
XJTX you FAIL….Sharks may not like the taste of humans, but they bite on things to taste if it’s food. They don’t grab you an lick you to do that. A taste bite from a 4m long Great White like this and you are history! Besides they tend to get interested in things floating in the water, being dark as a seal or bright like that kayak!
I am a marine biologist with the EPA. Now a days it does not matter if the shark thinks the kayak is a seal or not. Due to the over tourism in California, Africa (which is where the picture was taken) and other Great White Shark hot spots such as South Africa specifically, sharks are more drawn to humans because of over chumming to have the sharks come near the boats. Sharks will attack a kayak even after it realizes its not a seal. Thomas Peschak, who took this picture, is a nice person and has done a lot of photography for shark awareness. EPIC WIN!
im gonna have to agree with brick. its a pretty convincing to be a photoshop if you look at the water around the shark. im a skeptic, and also someone with a morbid interest and fear of sharks, (by the way “that looks like a whale shark” FAIL. really? a whale shark is soooo much bigger than that.) but when brick pointed out the water around the shark, i started to doubt that it was photoshopped… im not really sure what to think of this pic actually, but if it is a real pic, id vomit if i were the kayak..er.
I love how people instantly cry “OMG fakez!” for a picture without looking into it at all. National Geographic is known for their stunning (and ballsy) photography, so I’m not surprised that this is their picture.
But I’d say this is a definate case of “Courage WIN.”
Going to need a bigger boat to ship all that fail.
I’m guessing its just from a different angle, that’s why it would look like the shark is bigger.
Holy crud!!! Jaws are Bac– *chomp*
*jaws theme song*
That is actually a photoshope one.
ahah you failed sucker!
FAIL – its actually real
no it’s fake
Actually it’s very real! This was featured in a National Geographic mag, check your facts:

Yeah i doubt that.
hell no google is about the most absolute wrong way to get a valuable and reliable source
any loser can make a website and say its accurate or has real content, as proven by this website
The only person who thinks he’s smart on this website! Talk about deluded.
lol not this guy again….

Looks like a Whale Shark. They are harmless.
That looks absolutely nothing like a whale shark. Taxonomy Fail
Sorry Dude…. Go relearn some Shark Knowledge. I hear they have shark week on DVD. That , my friend, looks NOTHING like a whale shark.

OMG!!!! Paddle lady Paddle!!
The kayaker is actually in no danger. Sharks have nothing against kayaks and won’t try to eat them, which is why they’re often used for shark research in the wild. Kayak win.
“Sharks have nothing against kayaks…” Ha. They’ve just got a huge bone to pick with the tasty morsels that paddle those innocent kayaks around, right?
Grudge fail?
Dude..fail…sharks dont like the taste of human

people getting hit by lighting must be the next pandemic

Wow, that makes my jaw drop. If I were in that kayak, I would need a new pair of pants. Such a cool photo!
they’re gonna need a bigger boat
