I was talking to my brothers OC the other day about what happens if someone passes out on the parade square. He said there is always people waiting at the sides with stretchers, and they will run on and quickly take them away. The other soldiers are not allowed to break ranks for any reason…plus the beasting they would get for doing it just isn’t worth it!
The Palace Guard have some very interesting protocols.
But if you watch closely during a changing of the guard, you’ll see a guy at the back with a set of boxes. >.> The boxes are full of firearms, ammo, grenades, etc, in case the Palace is attacked during the ceremony.
oh no lol on rememberance day the parade master forgot to call at ease before the first song started so there we were in the freezing rain standing at attention for a stupid amount of time…grr four cadets and a veteren fainted on the right turn lol but these guys actually signed up for it so minimum sympathy!
The reason no one helped is because if they did break rank they’d all look like a bag of w***, instead it’s just him
I must ask, what is ‘heat attack’? All I know of is heat stroke and exhaustion. The more likely result was from locking his knees for too long. The fact that he fell straight backwards and his body, especialy his legs, are still in attention helps verify that. Heat could have been a factor, but if he had fainted from the heat, he would have fallen in a lump/pile and not stiff as a board.
Actually, I’d say that was a win… That chap and his colleagues are doing exactly what they should be. Good drills to the lad the he collapsed in such a straight line.
I don’t know what they do in Britain but i do know what they do in America. They have people on stand by to pick up people who faint in ranks. However this is a common occurance as people do not listen to thier instructors and lock thier knees and subsequently pass out. Some people even recover and return to ranks.
Sadly, this isn’t a fake picture… on Veteran’s day, one of our flag bearers did the same thing. In the middle of the speech, he passed out and fell just like this poor soul did. Luckily, our SgtMaj caught the colors before they touched the dirt, and we carried the poor guy off to one side to recover. Locking knees…. very bad news when you stand at attention, or even at rest, for hours on end.
THIS is why you don’t lock your knees while standing at attention. hehe
haha, yep. and possible heatstroke couldn’t have helped any, lol
Don’t be silly, it’s just the passing out parade!
in that case, pwned!
timing win
Funny. And I thought that the London guard, or what ever it’s called, is supposed to stand at attention NO MATTER WHAT.
look carefully…he is basically at attention. He has just reverted back to the bed drill we all did at boot camp!
Feet apart, arms not along his sides… not really at attention in any sense of the word.
@Alltat, lighten the f@ck up.
yeah…. my brothers friend in air cadets passed out from the heat at a drill….broke 2 teeth
Shame
or drunk
same goes for singing.
It’s the darn furry caps they’re forced to wear…no ventilation, whatsoever.
He must have gotten overheated…. poor thing.
Excellent bearing on the rest of em. Not a one broke ranks to help him. Peck of bastards, lol.
That was possibly the most beautiful comment ive seen on here, that me laugh so damn hard hahahahahhah!
LETS HEAR IT FOR THE BRITISH!… lul
I seriously hope you aren’t american.
And I hope he isn’t British.
America doesn’t have a monopoly on jackasses, contrary to popular belief. We do have a lot though.
Self-Deprecation Stand Up Comment Win
LOL. I agree. I am British and i have seen my share of jackasses for one life, and i am only 15!

Bad taste in humour Win.
“Ability to realize this” Fail
As ‘Me’ says: Locked knees for teh Fail.
Tradition is a powerful thing – Everyone remains in ranks until dismissed, whereupon the fainted soldier will be collected.
It’s photoshopped people
if its photoshopped why is there a shadow where his foot is lying squint then!
what! you mean they just leave him there till they are dismissed?

Seriously.
well duh look all the grenadiers have sub-machine guns
Not photoshopped, happens at times, the guards are parading and they get hot, some faint.
Has happened live on tv at times.
I see the queens speach has claimed another victim.
Hehe, I was thinking the exact same thing. XD
but the freaky thing is; he has not moved a muscle.
guess all that training worked.
Just so you know….it’s not a video. It’s just a photo and they dont usually move

Win tbh. they would have punished him more if he moved. good on him.
And nobody will help this guy until the parade is over. He could be dying of heart attack.

Comment Fail.
He said heart attack, not heat attack.
If 50’s movies are any indication, he’s pregnant.
That was beauty. Right there.
Has to be said……..Sucks to be him.
Actually, I’d say that was a win… That chap and his colleagues are doing exactly what they should be. Good drills to the lad the he collapsed in such a straight line.
The guy next to him totoally tripped his ass. and if we could see his face, it would just have this HUGE grin on it. Win for that guy.
Whoops >.<

Hey, did you notice that Joker is Poker with a J?
thats an epic fail.

poor guy must be knackered, havin’ a kip mid-ceremony.
