      And to answer your remark: nope. A fake bird wouldn’t sit that well on such a thin piece of metal, it’s weight would continually shift, causing it to fall off about a dozen times.

      No, no. In this context, fail means to not succeed (aka win).
      From Oxford Dictionary

      fail
